SUS305 is generally known as a non-magnetic stainless steel.
Common austenitic stainless steel SUS304 (18Cr8Ni) undergoes a martensitic phase change during cold working, making it magnetic (i.e., easily attached to a magnet). Due to the high nickel (Ni) content of SUS305 (also austenitic stainless steel), the austenitic phase is stable and can remain almost uninduced martensite after cold rolling.
Due to the increased nickel content, SUS305 material can remain non-magnetic after processing. Our TOKKIN 305M grade is produced with a nickel content close to the higher levels of JIS standards and therefore has a higher non-magnetic property.
Its high nickel content also gives TOKKIN 305M excellent machinability and corrosion resistance.
